Aurora Aksnes' first musical memories involve finding a tiny piano in her basement, and becoming enthralled by the sounds it produced. Jan Oystein Aksnes was her father. They encouraged her not to do music just for fun or as a means of growth but rather, she should explore it. In the end, she began to write her own music. She credits renowned composers Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan for inspiration, as well as a love for Bjork's style. She decided to start performing the songs she wrote publicly after her mother said they might help others not gain acclaim for her work but to make people see around them realize their importance and the ways they could impact the world. Her mother suggested that she perform her songs publicly in order to make people aware of their own importance and how they impact the world. It was not until she turned 14 that she revealed her plans to her parents. Aurora wasn't a dream. She claims that she enjoys creating music. Music is her preferred method to feel anything.
